A FIAT navigation update is needed when the car’s screen does not show new streets, roundabouts or motorway sections, and the route leads along a road that was changed long ago. This page will help you understand which navigation system is installed in your FIAT and which map CDs it needs.
Below you will find a list of systems and cars, a description of the map discs, the most common faults and answers to questions people ask when searching for „navigacija fiat 500”, „fiat ducato navigacija” or „fiat tipo navigacija”.
FIAT navigation update and most common faults
When the navigation no longer works as it used to, the cause is not always a fault – often it is simply outdated maps or a dirty disc. Here is what happens most often.
FIAT navigation shows old maps
The system does not have data on new roads because the maps have not been updated. Newly built sections and changed traffic layouts appear only on newer CDs.
What you can check yourself: Check which CD is inserted and what version is shown on the screen in the „Information” or „Map” menu.
Updating the maps with a newer CD set suitable for your system.
Navigation asks for a CD or shows „Insert disc”
The required regional disc is not inserted in the CD reader, or the disc is scratched or dirty. Less often, the problem is the reader’s lens.
What you can check yourself: Remove the disc, check that it is not scratched, gently wipe it with a soft cloth from the center towards the edge, and insert the disc that matches your region.
The disc and reader are inspected; if necessary, the disc is replaced or the reader is repaired.
FIAT navigation does not read the CD
Most often the cause is a dirty or worn lens, or an old disc. Over the years, the reader’s mechanism also ages.
What you can check yourself: Try another disc that is known to work. If it does not work either, the problem is most likely in the reader, not the disc.
Cleaning or repairing the reader; the price is confirmed after inspecting the system.
Navigation not working in Fiat Bravo
The Fiat Bravo (2007–2011) has a Connect G2/DB3 type system, whose problems are most often caused by the disc, the reader or the software. The error message often helps to find the cause faster.
What you can check yourself: Switch off the ignition, wait a few minutes and switch it on again. Write down the error text shown on the screen.
The cause of the fault is determined; if necessary, the maps are updated.
Fiat Ulysse navigation not working or showing the wrong location
The Ulysse has two different systems, depending on the year, so an unsuitable CD may not work at all. An incorrect location is sometimes caused by a weak GPS signal or old maps.
What you can check yourself: Park the car in an open area and wait a few minutes for the GPS to find satellites.
We determine whether you have a fia1 or fia2 system and select the right map set.
FIAT navigation cannot find a GPS signal
The most common causes are a broken or disconnected GPS antenna cable, an antenna fault or a poor connection. In a garage or under a roof, no system receives a signal.
What you can check yourself: Drive to an open area and wait 5–10 minutes. Check that no metallized stickers are attached to the screen or glass.
The receiver and antenna circuit are inspected; the scope of the repair depends on the fault.
Fiat 500 navigation not working
Fiat 500 navigation is often a Blue&Me type with an external card or USB. Problems arise from outdated maps, a card error or a software fault.
What you can check yourself: Check that the card or USB is firmly inserted and that there is no error message on the screen.
Call the navigation phone line and tell us the model and year of manufacture.
Fiat Ducato navigation not working
The Ducato has different systems in different years, so the cause may be a disc, map or unit error. Without identifying the system type, it is difficult to guess.
What you can check yourself: Write down what the screen shows when you switch on the navigation and what labels are on the system.
The fault is diagnosed based on the model, year and system name.
Fiat Freemont navigation not working or freezing
The Freemont has a multimedia system that may freeze due to a software error or an old version. Whether the maps can be updated depends on the specific system.
What you can check yourself: Switch the ignition off and on again, and check whether there is a system error message.
For this model, call the navigation phone line and provide the car’s details.
Fiat Tipo, Evo, Doblo or Stilo navigation not showing new roads
The navigation systems in these models differ: it may be an integrated system, a card-based system or a portable device. Outdated maps occur in all types of systems.
What you can check yourself: Check whether your system has a card slot or USB, and write down the name shown on the screen.
For update options, call the navigation phone line with the model and year details.
FIAT navigation update: which system does your car have?
The map set must be chosen according to the navigation unit, not just the model. The map CDs are prepared for two system groups: Connect G2/DB3 (set code fia1) and RT4/RT5 (code fia2). Both use the same European CD set.
The Connect G2/DB3 system is specified for the following cars: Fiat Bravo (February 2007–2011), Fiat Croma (December 2007–2011), Fiat Idea (April 2008–2011) and Fiat Ulysse (2005–2007). The RT4/RT5 system is intended for the Fiat Ulysse from July 2007.
- fia1 – Connect G2/DB3: Bravo, Croma, Idea, Ulysse (2005–2007)
- fia2 – RT4/RT5: Ulysse from July 2007
- Both systems use the same 11 CDs with European maps
If you are not sure which system is installed, have ready the model, year of manufacture and the label shown on the screen when the navigation is switched on, and call the dedicated navigation phone line about the update.

What does the Lithuanian and European map CD set include?
The set consists of eleven discs, each intended for a separate region. Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus and Ukraine are on disc CD10, and the map of Lithuania on it is detailed.
The discs are distributed as follows: CD01 – France; CD02 – Spain and Portugal; CD03 – Italy; CD04 – Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg; CD05 – Austria, Switzerland, southern Germany and northern Italy; CD06 – Germany; CD07 – Great Britain and Ireland; CD08 – Scandinavia; CD09 – Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary; CD11 – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia.
Travelling to Italy? The map of the whole country is on CD03, and northern Italy is additionally included on CD05.
My FIAT is another model – 500, Ducato, Tipo or Doblo. What should I do?
The described CD set is intended only for the systems and models mentioned. The navigation in other FIATs may be completely different: the Fiat 500, Punto Evo or Doblo often have Blue&Me Nav type solutions with a card or USB, the Tipo and Freemont have more multimedia systems with a touchscreen, and the Ducato has different systems in different years. The exact option depends on the model, year and trim level.
For such cars, call the dedicated navigation phone line. If you use a portable navigation device in your car, see TomTom, Garmin and iGo update.
Separate pages are dedicated to the navigation systems of cars of similar origin: for example, ALFA ROMEO and LANCIA, and for the Ducato’s relatives, the Boxer and Jumper – PEUGEOT and CITROEN.
Is it worth updating FIAT navigation, or buying a portable one?
If the original system works and only new maps are missing, updating the maps is usually the most sensible option: the screen, voice instructions and controls remain familiar.
A portable device may be worth considering when the original system is faulty and repairing it is not justified, or when the car’s system is very old and no map set exists for it.
- Updating is worthwhile if the system works but the maps are old
- Repair is worthwhile if only the CD reader or the software is faulty
- Replacing the solution is worthwhile if the repair costs more than the system is worth
What to bring and how to prepare before your visit
Before you come, write down your car’s model, year of manufacture and, if you know it, the name of the navigation system or any text shown on the screen. If you have old CDs or a card, bring them with you – they can help identify the system version.
On weekdays all branches are open 9:00–18:00 and are closed on weekends. Navigation enquiries are handled on a separate phone line. You can find more information on the navigation update page.
How a FIAT navigation update works
- Call and describe your car. For navigation enquiries, call the separate phone number. Have the model, year of manufacture and the known navigation system name ready.
- Come to a branch. In Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda or Šiauliai, visit on weekdays between 9:00 and 18:00. Bring any discs or cards you have.
- The system is identified. We determine which system is installed, for example Connect G2/DB3 or RT4/RT5.
- The maps are updated. The selected map discs are installed, or another issue is addressed if the system is not working as it should.
- The result is checked. We check that the navigation works and displays the new maps.
Frequently asked questions about FIAT navigation
How much does a FIAT navigation update cost?
The price depends on the system and the selected maps. For an exact amount, call the separate navigation phone line.
Do you update the navigation in the Fiat 500, Tipo, Ducato or Doblo?
It depends on the model, year and system. The CD set described is intended for Connect G2/DB3 and RT4/RT5 systems, so for other models, call the navigation phone line and have your car’s details ready.
Which FIAT cars does the Connect G2/DB3 system cover?
According to our data, these are the Fiat Bravo (2007.02–2011), Croma (2007.12–2011), Idea (2008.04–2011) and Ulysse (2005–2007). RT4/RT5 is for the Ulysse from July 2007.
Which disc contains the map of Lithuania?
The detailed map of Lithuania is on disc CD10, together with Estonia, Latvia, Belarus and Ukraine. The other regions are covered by the remaining discs in the set.
Why does the FIAT navigation not show new roads?
Map data becomes outdated: new road sections, roundabouts and traffic layouts do not appear on their own. The system does not update itself, so a newer map set is needed.
