Most common robot vacuum faults
Below are the symptoms with which robots are brought to us. Before you come, carry out the safe checks, and if they don’t help, bring the robot in for diagnostics.
Robot vacuum doesn’t vacuum or suction is weak
Most often the cause is a clogged filter, a full dust bin or tangled hair. If everything is clean, the culprit may be a worn suction motor or the mainboard.
What you can check yourself: Empty the dust bin, clean the filter and brush, and check that there are no foreign objects in the suction channel.
We clean and inspect the suction unit and, if necessary, repair the board (from €40). We will quote the price for replacing other parts after diagnostics.
Robot vacuum doesn’t turn on at all
This may be a depleted battery, a faulty power button, a damaged power contact or a board failure. After moisture exposure or a fall, the cause is often the board.
What you can check yourself: Try charging the robot on its dock for a few hours and check whether the charging indicator lights up. Do not start disassembling it.
We determine whether the button (from €25), the battery (from €30) or the board (from €40) is at fault, and agree on the price before the repair.
Robot vacuum doesn’t charge or runs for too short a time
An aging battery loses capacity, so the robot works for a shorter time or shuts off after a few dozen seconds. Dirty contacts or a faulty dock may also prevent charging.
What you can check yourself: Wipe the charging contacts on the robot and the dock with a dry cloth and try a different power outlet.
We restore or replace the battery (from 30 €) and repair the charging dock (from 20 €). A 2-month warranty, as stated in the price list, applies to this work.
Robot vacuum cleaner does not move or its wheels get stuck
Hair and small objects can get caught between the wheels and the body, and the gear may wear out or the wheel sensor may fail. Sometimes one wheel does not turn because of a damaged motor.
What you can check yourself: Turn the robot over, clean the wheels and axles of hair, and check by hand that the wheel turns freely.
We repair the mechanical part (from 35 €). If wheel parts need to be replaced, we will tell you the price after diagnostics.
Brushes do not rotate
Most often they are blocked by hair or threads wrapped around them. If the brush still does not rotate, its motor or gear may be faulty.
What you can check yourself: Remove the brush following the instructions, clean off the hair, and check that it is properly installed.
We repair the brush mechanism (from 35 €) and clean the robot (from 25 €).
Robot gets lost, cannot see its way or moves erratically
Navigation relies on a laser, a camera and edge sensors. Dirty, faulty or damaged sensors read the surroundings incorrectly, so the robot spins in circles, bumps into furniture or fails to return to the dock.
What you can check yourself: Wipe the sensors, the laser turret and the camera with a soft dry cloth, restart the robot, and check that the room has enough light.
We repair or replace sensors, the laser or the camera (from 30 €). A 2-month warranty, as stated in the price list, applies to this work.
Navigation turret does not rotate or the laser does not turn on
The laser turret motor may jam from an impact or dirt, and the laser itself may burn out. The robot then often shows an error and does not start cleaning.
What you can check yourself: Check that no foreign object is blocking the turret and carefully clean it. Do not press it or try to turn it by force.
We diagnose and repair or replace the laser and the navigation unit (from 30 €).
Robot beeps and shows an error message
The error usually points to a specific component: a wheel, a brush, an edge sensor, or a problem with the battery or the dustbin. If the code reappears after cleaning, the cause is most likely technical.
What you can check yourself: Look up the code in the manual or the app, clean the wheels, brushes and sensors, and restart the robot.
During diagnostics (10 €) we identify the fault and tell you the repair price.
Robot fell down the stairs or was hit hard
An impact can break the body, dislodge the wheel gears, damage the laser or the solder joints on the board. Damage is not always visible from the outside.
What you can check yourself: Do not turn the robot on or charge it if you hear rattling or see cracks.
We inspect and repair the mechanics, sensors or board. If you have insurance, we can prepare a damage assessment report (30 €).
Robot has been exposed to moisture
Liquid can get in from the water tank, through the sensor openings or into the dock. Moisture causes corrosion of the board and short circuits, which later show up as the robot not turning on or switching off by itself.
What you can check yourself: Switch it off immediately, do not charge it and do not use a hair dryer. Bring it in as soon as possible.
We clean the board, repair or replace damaged parts and, if necessary, repair the dock (from 20 €) or the board (from 40 €).
Robot vacuum cleaner turns on but does not start working or switches off after a metre
An old battery, a voltage drop under load, a jammed wheel or outdated software can cause this. The fault may also be simpler than it seems.
What you can check yourself: Charge it fully, clean the wheels and brushes, and update the software through the app.
After diagnostics we replace the battery (from 30 €) and repair the mechanics or the board.
Robot is too loud when operating
Most often the cause is worn bearings, a foreign object stuck inside, or an imbalance in the brush and fan. A loud hum can also mean the motor is wearing out quickly.
What you can check yourself: Check that the brush and wheels are clean, that there are no stones stuck inside, and that the dustbin is properly inserted.
We disassemble the robot, clean it and replace worn parts – this is usually a mechanical repair (from 35 €).
Is it worth repairing a robot vacuum cleaner or buying a new one?
In most cases repair is worthwhile. Common faults – a worn battery, jammed wheels, dirty or faulty sensors – are repaired for 15–40 €, while a new mid-range robot with a dock usually costs several hundred euros. Fault diagnosis costs 10 €, so the risk is small.
Buying a new one is worth it when the repair cost approaches half the value of a new device, or when the robot is very old and parts are no longer manufactured for it. We assess this after diagnostics and tell you openly.
- The battery does not hold a charge or does not charge – it is usually worth repairing or replacing the cells.
- The wheels or brushes do not turn – usually an inexpensive mechanical repair.
- The mainboard has failed – the price depends on the model, but it is often still cheaper than a new robot.
- The robot has suffered severe moisture or impact damage – we decide after inspection.
Do not throw away the docking station: often only the robot or only the station fails, and repairing just one of them is enough.

Which manufacturers’ robot vacuum cleaners do we repair?
We repair robots from the most popular manufacturers: iRobot Roomba, Xiaomi, Roborock, Ecovacs, Samsung, LG and others, including those people often search for online – for example, Dreame models. Whether we can repair a specific model becomes clear after inspection, as it depends on the fault and the availability of parts.
Robots with a mopping function have more components: a water tank, a mop mount, a small pump. They are more sensitive to limescale and moisture, so faults occur more often than with simple models. If you have a classic vacuum cleaner, read about vacuum cleaner repair, and you can find other household appliances on the household appliance repair page.
How can you extend the lifespan of a robot vacuum cleaner?
Most faults can be avoided with simple maintenance. Hair and threads wound around the brush and wheel axles are one of the most common reasons why a robot starts beeping, jerking or stops moving.
Laser and edge sensors, which act as the robot’s „eyes”, are important for navigation. You can read about how such systems learn to find their way in the article on machine learning robot technology.
- After every cleaning or every other cleaning, empty the dust bin and clean the filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Every week, clean hair off the brush and wheels.
- Wipe the sensors and charging contacts with a dry, soft cloth.
- Empty the wet cleaning tank after use to prevent limescale and mold buildup.
- Before cleaning, remove cables, shoes and small items from the floor.
If the robot moves through a room with stairs, set up a virtual wall or barriers – falling is a common cause of expensive repairs.
Insurance and what to bring to the branch
If your home property is insured, we can prepare a robot defect assessment report for the insurance company. It costs €30, and the repair costs are covered by the insurance. We work with all insurance companies.
Bring the robot itself to the branch, along with the docking station and charger if the fault is related to charging. We work Monday to Friday 9:00–18:00; the branches are closed at weekends. You can find contact details and addresses on the „Contacts” page.
Briefly note down when the fault appeared and what error message or sound signal you heard – this speeds up diagnostics.
