The most common iPhone faults and what to do about them

Here are the faults people most often seek help with. Prices are approximate and correspond to the table above.

iPhone screen not working or glass is broken

Most often the cause is an impact: the glass is cracked, the touch layer has failed or the screen module itself is faulty. Sometimes after a drop the display goes blank even though the phone vibrates and rings.

What you can check yourself: Press and hold the side button and restart the phone. Remove the screen protector and check whether the touch sensor responds without it. If the glass is shattered, stick clear tape over it so that shards do not get into your fingers.

We replace the screen or the screen and glass assembly. The price depends on the model, most often from 59 €.

iPhone battery drains quickly or shuts down

After several years and hundreds of charge cycles, the battery capacity decreases. The phone may then run out of charge within a few hours or suddenly shut down even though it shows remaining charge.

What you can check yourself: In Settings, open “Battery” – “Battery Health” and look at the maximum capacity. Also check which apps use the most power, and update iOS.

We replace the battery, price from 39 €. Do not attempt any battery work yourself.

iPhone speaker not working

The speaker grille may be blocked by dirt, and after a drop or moisture exposure the speaker itself or its connector may fail. Sometimes the problem is only software-related.

What you can check yourself: Check that silent mode is not on and that wireless headphones have not been selected via Bluetooth. Gently clean the grille with a dry, soft brush. Restart the phone.

We diagnose and replace the speaker or microphone, price from 35 €.

iPhone camera not working

The camera image may be black, blurry or „burst” due to a cracked lens glass, a damaged camera module or stabilizer after an impact. In rare cases, an app error is to blame.

What you can check yourself: Close the app and open it again, try switching between the front and rear cameras. Clean the lens. Restart the phone.

We replace the camera glass (from 25 €) or the entire camera module (from 49 €), depending on the diagnostic result.

iPhone back glass is broken

The back glass breaks when the phone is dropped, even though the phone may still work normally. Cracks reduce moisture resistance and can injure your fingers.

What you can check yourself: Do not stick strong tape over large cracks; use a film or case so that shards do not fall off. Do not press on the cracked areas.

We replace the back glass, price from 49 €. If only the camera glass is broken, it is enough to replace it separately, from 25 €.

iPhone SIM card not working

Most often the SIM card is inserted incorrectly, dirty or damaged; less often the SIM slot or part of the motherboard is faulty. The phone may also be locked to a specific carrier.

What you can check yourself: Remove the SIM card with a special pin, clean it and insert it again. Try another card and check that airplane mode is not on. Update the carrier settings.

We diagnose whether the slot or the motherboard is at fault. For carrier locks, see the phone unlocking page.

iPhone internet or Wi-Fi not working

In most cases the problem is in the settings or the router. If you cannot connect to any network and the Wi-Fi button is greyed out, there may be a hardware fault after a drop or liquid exposure.

What you can check yourself: Restart the phone and the router, choose „Reset Network Settings” in the settings, update iOS. Check whether other devices on the same network are working.

If Wi-Fi still does not work after these checks, we diagnose an antenna or motherboard fault and tell you the price before the repair.

iPhone does not charge or charges intermittently

The most common cause is dirt in the charging port or a worn-out port. Sometimes a faulty cable or charger is to blame, and less often, the battery.

What you can check yourself: Try another cable and charger. Carefully shine a flashlight into the port and, if you see dirt, blow air into it or clean it with a plastic toothpick, without using metal.

We clean or replace the charging port, price from 35 €. If the problem is the battery, we replace it from 39 €.

iPhone got wet or fell into water

Liquid causes corrosion, which may damage the motherboard not immediately but after several days or weeks. The sooner it is cleaned, the less damage there is.

What you can check yourself: Turn off the phone and do not turn it on again until a technician has examined it. Do not charge it, do not use a hair dryer and do not put it in rice – this does not help.

We perform cleaning and diagnostics, price from 35 €. The result depends on how long the phone was wet.

Dead iPhone: won’t turn on or is stuck on the Apple logo

The causes can range from a discharged or faulty battery to a software error or motherboard fault. Most often this becomes clear only after diagnostics.

What you can check yourself: Charge it for a few minutes with the original or a reliable charger, then quickly press the volume up and volume down buttons and hold the side button. If the image does not appear, do not use force.

We perform diagnostics within 1 business day, then tell you the cause and the price. In more complex cases, we repair motherboards and connectors.

iPhone repair: the work we do

Most iPhone faults are related to physical damage: cracked glass, a non-working touchscreen, a worn-out battery. Such jobs are an everyday matter at the workshop, so their price and duration are usually clearer than for more complex motherboard faults.

In addition, we carry out more complex technical repairs: repairing broken connectors, motherboards and other electronics work. In such cases, the price can be given only after diagnostics.

  • iPhone glass replacement (front, back, camera)
  • iPhone screen replacement
  • replacement of the screen and glass assembly
  • replacement of the battery, charging port, speaker or microphone
  • repair of broken connectors, motherboards and other technical faults

Even if the screen is only cracked, but the display and touch still work, do not put it off – moisture and dust get in through the cracks, and shards of glass can get stuck in your finger.

Is it worth repairing an iPhone or buying a new one?

A simple rule: if the repair cost does not exceed roughly a third of the price of a similar used phone, repairing it usually pays off. Replacing a screen or battery is almost always cheaper than buying a new phone, especially if the device otherwise works well.

It is different when the motherboard fails or the phone has been badly affected by liquids. In that case the repair can cost a lot, and the result is not always guaranteed – we will tell you this after diagnostics, and the decision will be yours.

For example, if an iPhone 11 or 12 has a worn-out battery (the phone lasts only a few hours), a new battery restores everyday comfort for a small fraction of the price of a new phone. On the other hand, for a phone that no longer receives new iOS versions, a larger investment is rarely worthwhile.

Before deciding, ask for the price to be given verbally and compare it with the value of the phone – that is exactly what diagnostics are for.

Which iPhone models we repair and what to bring

We repair both newer and older devices: from the iPhone 3G and 4S to the iPhone 13, including the X, XS Max, 8 Plus, SE, and the 6 and 7 series. We also accept some Apple tablets (iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air) and the iPod Touch. For the very latest models (14–17 series), it is best to check with a branch in advance, as parts availability varies.

Bring your phone to the branch and, if you can, the charger as well. If you know when and how the fault appeared (it was dropped, got wet, started to malfunction after an update), tell the technician – this shortens the diagnostics.

  • the phone itself (removing the SIM card is not necessary, but keep it in mind)
  • the charger and cable, if the fault is related to charging
  • a short description of when the problem started

Data and privacy when repairing an iPhone

Photos, messages and apps usually stay on the phone when the screen, glass or battery is replaced. Nevertheless, before any repair it is worth making a backup via “iCloud” or a computer – it is the simplest protection if something goes wrong.

If the phone does not turn on and there is no backup, tell us right away: the technician will assess whether the data can be saved. If you have a lock code, you may need to provide it for testing, but consult the technician first. If your phone is locked to a specific operator, read about it on the phone unlocking page.

Turn off “Find My iPhone” only when the technician asks you to, and only you should know your “Apple ID” password – do not share it with anyone.
