Most common console faults and their repair
Below are the symptoms people most often come to us with for PlayStation, Xbox and Switch repair. Before you visit, you can carry out a few safe checks.
PlayStation won’t turn on
The most common causes are a faulty power supply, a motherboard fault, or overheating protection kicking in. Sometimes the power cable or socket is to blame.
What you can check yourself: Try a different wall socket and power cable, unplug the console from the mains for 1–2 minutes and try again. Never open the casing.

Xbox won’t turn on, or turns on but shows no picture
The fault is often in the power supply or the motherboard. It may also be a problem with the HDMI port or corrupted software.
What you can check yourself: Unplug the power cable for 10 seconds and plug it back in, try a different HDMI cable and a different TV input.

PS4 or PS5 no longer displays a picture, screen flickers
Most often the HDMI port is broken or loose, especially if the cable was moved or pulled. In rarer cases, the video circuit is at fault.
What you can check yourself: Try a different HDMI cable and a different TV port. If the picture appears only when you hold the cable in place, the port is probably damaged – do not use force.

Console overheats, makes loud noise and shuts down
The cause is often a heatsink and fan clogged with dust, or dried-out thermal paste. Poor ventilation in a cabinet also contributes.
What you can check yourself: Check that the console is in an open space and that the ventilation openings are not covered. If it gets hot, turn it off and let it cool down.

Controller drifts to one side, analog sticks don’t work
This is so-called analog stick „drift”: the potentiometer wears out, or the mechanism becomes contaminated after liquid gets in. It is common in PlayStation, Xbox and Switch controllers.
What you can check yourself: Disconnect the controller and wipe around the analog stick with a dry cloth. Recalibrate it in the system settings, if such a function is available.

Controller won’t charge
The charging port may be worn, the contacts dirty, or the battery may have lost capacity. Sometimes the charging cable is to blame.
What you can check yourself: Try a different USB cable and a different charger, and carefully clean the contacts with a dry cloth. Do not open the battery or try to replace it yourself.

Xbox doesn’t read discs
Most often the laser or optical drive is faulty, sometimes the disc is dirty or scratched. A disc can also get stuck in the mechanism.
What you can check yourself: Try a different, clean disc. Do not try to remove a stuck disc by force, and do not open the console.

PS4 asks to connect the controller and the menu won’t load
This is often a software error or a failing hard disk drive (HDD). Sometimes the system software is corrupted.
What you can check yourself: Try connecting the controller with a USB cable and restart the console. If nothing helps, do not try to take it apart.

Nintendo Switch won’t turn on or won’t charge
The power section, the motherboard or the charging port may be damaged. The problem sometimes appears after charging with an unsuitable charger.
What you can check yourself: Try an original or reliable charger and a different cable, wait a few minutes and then try to turn it on. Do not open the battery.

Nintendo Switch controller won’t lock in place or the kickstand won’t hold
The locking mechanism wears out or the kickstand breaks. This is typical mechanical wear after long use.
What you can check yourself: Check whether there is any dirt on the kickstand and in the rail, and gently wipe it off.

An older Xbox 360 or PS3 needs to be modded
For older consoles, modding is needed when you want to run games from the HDD or use additional features. The methods differ depending on the model.

Repair your console or buy a new one?
It is easier to make a decision when you know the cause of the fault and the repair price. Controller repair starts from €15, cooling system refresh or software repair – from €25, and HDMI port replacement on the PlayStation 4 – from €40.
More expensive jobs, such as power section or motherboard repair, start from €30 in the price list (Xbox 360) and range from €60–65 for Xbox One, Switch and PlayStation 4 consoles. The final amount depends on the model and the fault.

- A controller fault (analog sticks, buttons, charging) is usually fixed by replacing or cleaning parts, not the whole controller.
- Overheating and noise are often related to dust and dried-out thermal paste, so cleaning and a cooling system refresh help.
- No picture over HDMI – the port is often to blame, and it can be replaced.
- Won’t turn on at all – the cause may be the power section or the motherboard, so only diagnostics can tell you for certain.

Which consoles we repair and what modding is for
We repair consoles from several generations: PlayStation 3, 4 and 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One / One S / One X and Series X, as well as Nintendo Switch. We also repair accessories – controllers and the Kinect camera. Some work is done technically (soldering, replacing ports and components), and some is done on the software side.
Modding (modification) is most often relevant for older consoles. In the price list you will find Xbox 360 modding using the RGH and LT3.0 methods, as well as PlayStation 3 CFW. You can also bring an old portable console in using the separate page about PSP repair and modding. Before that, think about which games you intend to play: a modded console may lose the manufacturer’s warranty and online services.

How to avoid console faults
Most overheating cases are caused by dust. Keep the console in an open space, not in a closed cabinet, and leave at least a few centimeters of free space around the ventilation openings. A layer of dust on the heatsink and fan makes the system run noisily and overheat.
Another common fault is the HDMI port. It is most often damaged when the cable is strained, twisted, or when the console is moved without unplugging the cable. Make sure the cable does not dangle and is not under tension.
Protect controllers from liquids and strong pressure, and notice analog stick „drift” early: the longer you play with a drifting stick, the more its mechanism wears out.
- Clean the console with a dry cloth and do not open the inside yourself.
- Do not remove the game disc while the device is running.
- Update the system software as soon as an update becomes available, and keep your game saves in the cloud or on an external drive.
If the console hums loudly or gets very hot, it is worth turning it off and getting a diagnostic: dust cleaning and a cooling system refresh are among the cheaper repair jobs.
What to bring and when an insurance report is needed
Bring the console, the power cable and the controller or accessory with which you noticed the fault. If it is unclear whether other accessories will be needed, call the branch. If the console has saved games, make a backup if possible, as the repair sometimes requires updating the software or replacing the drive.
If the console or home contents are insured, we can issue a defect report for the insurance company – this costs €25. Whether insurance will cover the repair costs is decided by your insurer, so check its requirements in advance. We also prepare the console and issue a certificate to submit to a correctional facility (€25).

How console repair works
- Bring your console to a branch. Visit our Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda or Šiauliai branch Monday–Friday from 9:00 to 18:00. We recommend bringing the console, the power cable and the controller you are having problems with.
- Diagnostics. A technician determines the cause of the fault. Diagnostics cost 10 €.
- Clear price. After diagnostics, you will find out what is broken and how much the repair will cost.
- Repair. We fix the fault either technically or through software: we replace ports, replace components, clean the cooling system and repair controllers. Most jobs take approximately 3–5 business days.
- Pick-up and warranty. You collect the console at the branch. The price list specifies a 2-month warranty for repair work.
Frequently asked questions about console repair
How much does console repair cost?
Fault diagnostics cost 10 €. Controller repair starts from 15 €, cooling system refurbishment or software repair from 25 €, and power section or motherboard repair is priced from 30 € to 65 € in the price list, depending on the model. You will find out the exact price after diagnostics.
How long does it take to repair a console?
We carry out most repairs within 3–5 business days, but this is an approximate timeframe. For more complex faults it may take longer, and the technician will give you a more precise timeframe after diagnostics.
What warranty is provided after repair?
The price list specifies a 2-month warranty for completed repair work. No warranty is specified for diagnostics, fault assessment reports or certificates for correctional facilities.
Can a PS5 or Xbox Series X be repaired?
Yes, we repair consoles of all generations, from PS3 to PS5 and from Xbox 360 to Series X. The price list includes PlayStation 5 HDMI port replacement (from 70 €) and controller repair (from 20 €). Other faults are identified during diagnostics (10 €), and the price depends on the fault.
Can a controller be repaired, or do I need to buy a new one?
In most cases it can be repaired: analog sticks and buttons can be replaced and charging problems can be fixed. Repair of PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Switch controllers starts from 15 €, and PlayStation 5 from 20 €.
