Most common computer faults

Below are the faults people contact us about most often, along with safe checks you can carry out yourself.

Computer won’t turn on

The most common culprits are the charger, the charging port, a drained battery, or a motherboard fault after a power surge or liquid spill.

What you can check yourself: Make sure the power socket is switched on, try a different charger, and disconnect all additional devices. You can find more tips in the article „Ką daryti, jeigu kompiuteris visiškai neįsijungia“.

We carry out diagnostics (€10). Charging port repair costs from €25, and motherboard repair from €40.

Computer is running slowly

An old mechanical drive, too little RAM, too many programs launching at startup, viruses, or a clogged cooling system.

What you can check yourself: Review which programs launch together with the system and disable the unnecessary ones. Check whether there is free space on the drive.

Speed-up services (RAM upgrade, replacing an HDD with an SSD, software optimization) cost from €15, with a warranty from 6 months.

Computer overheats and makes a loud noise

Heat sinks and fans clogged with dust, or dried-out thermal paste.

What you can check yourself: Do not keep your laptop on soft surfaces that block the ventilation openings. You can read about how the fan works in this article.

A cooling system refresh (dust cleaning, thermal paste replacement) costs from €30.

Broken laptop screen

An impact, a drop, pressure on a closed laptop, or liquid getting in.

Screen (panel) replacement costs from €10; the price of parts is calculated separately. The repair warranty is 2 months.

Computer with a liquid spill

Liquid can damage the keyboard, the motherboard and other components, and corrosion can spread even after several days.

What you can check yourself: Turn off the computer immediately, unplug the charger, and do not try to turn it on. Do not use a hair dryer.

Keyboard replacement – from €10, motherboard repair – from €40. We assess the condition during diagnostics.

Charger no longer charges, port is loose

A broken or worn charging port, a faulty charger, or a worn-out battery.

What you can check yourself: Try another compatible charger and check whether there is any dirt in the port. To learn how to choose the right one, read here.

Charging port repair or replacement costs from €25, with a 2-month warranty.

How the repair works

You bring your computer to the nearest branch and describe what happened: when the fault appeared, and whether the computer had been dropped, had a liquid spill, or had been connected to an unsuitable charger. Such small details help us find the cause faster.

Diagnostics cost €10. We identify the fault within one working day and give you an exact repair price, and then you decide whether to go ahead with the repair. The price of parts is not included in the labor cost, so the final amount depends on the model and the fault.

If your computer contains important photos or documents, tell us right away – we will then plan the work so that your data is preserved as far as is technically possible.

When the computer is running slowly

A slow computer does not necessarily mean it is time to buy a new one. Often it is enough to replace a mechanical hard drive with an SSD, increase the RAM, or remove unnecessary programs.

Speed-up services cost from €15 and come with a warranty of at least 6 months. If your computer is also noisy or gets hot, it is worth refreshing the cooling system – cleaning out the dust and replacing the thermal paste.

To read about habits that help keep your computer fast, see the article „Kompiuterio priežiūra namuose“.

When repair is worth it

The general rule is simple: if the repair costs significantly less than a similar new computer, it is worth fixing. Replacing a screen, keyboard, hard drive or charging port usually pays off even for a computer that is several years old.

More expensive jobs, such as motherboard or video chip repair, start from 40 €, but the final price depends on the model and the parts. That is why it is best to run a diagnostic first and only then make your decision.

Defect report for insurance

If your computer is insured or you have home insurance, we can issue a defect report for the insurance company. It costs 30 €, and the insurer covers this amount according to its own terms.

Before contacting us, check your insurance policy to see which events it covers and which documents are required.
