What happens after you leave your camera at the workshop
First, diagnostics are carried out – they cost €10. They determine what has failed: the lens mechanism, shutter, focusing unit, flash, sensor or mainboard. After that you will know what repair is needed and what the price starts from.
We provide a 2-month warranty on completed repairs. In the price list, many jobs are listed as „from” because the final amount depends on the model and the extent of the fault. If the camera was insured, we can prepare a photo equipment defect report for the insurance company – it costs €30 and is covered by the insurance.
When a camera is worth repairing and what you can do yourself
Repair usually pays off when the fault is localised: dust on the sensor, a stuck lens, a flash that no longer works or blurry focusing. A more expensive camera or a lens with good optics is generally more sensible to repair than to replace with a new one. With a cheap compact model, calculate carefully – compare the repair cost with the price of a similar camera.
Before you come in, you can check a few things: whether the battery is charged, whether its contacts are clean, whether the card is locked, and whether the lens is firmly attached. If the camera has been splashed with liquid or dropped in water, do not turn it on and bring it in as soon as possible – moisture can damage the mainboard.
